Description

Item is one preowned Signed print on canvas by Cryptorealist, Persian painter Davood Roostaei.Artist Davood Roostaei started his career as an artist in the late 70’s, his art studies were violently disrupted in 1979 by the Iranian revolution. He was thrown in jail for two years for art which was deemed to be subversive by the regime. What he had seen and experienced made him realize that his artistic route could not be that of the standard way of depicting the world. So he had to discover another way to tell us of what he had seen, imagined, and experienced.Persian painter Davood Roostaei created Cryptorealism as the method of painting to do this. This method reconciles the major currents of contemporary art, realism and abstraction, and at the same time, spans the bridge between the Orient and the Occident, between the deeply rooted fear of images in Judaism and Islam and the passionate love of images in the West.I don’t know the name on this one but, it has Iran and the American flags as well as doves indicating peace?
